Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator with strong scripting skills to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining Linux-based servers, automating workflows using various scripting languages, and ensuring the stability and security of critical systems. Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat).
- Perform system updates, patches, and manage configuration settings.
- Ensure system security by enforcing firewalls and access controls.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Scripting and Automation:
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
- Create and maintain scripts for backups, system monitoring, performance tuning, and deployments.
- Develop and manage shell scripts to improve operational efficiency.
Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Use tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus for system health monitoring.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement optimizations.
- Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Implement and oversee backup and restore processes.
- Regularly test and maintain disaster recovery plans.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, Network, and Security teams to maintain a unified infrastructure.
- Document configurations, procedures, and scripts for future reference and training purposes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration.
- Strong proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, Perl, etc.
- Hands-on experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (preferred).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPN).
- Strong understanding of Linux security best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills for effective team collaboration.
